Supporting our students

The Student Support Department provides support for students in all aspects of their lives at the BSO, inside and outside school. We offer an open door policy and are here to support and advise you with any issues at any time during your course. We offer a confidential, impartial service.

Welfare Advice

Our Student Support & Equality Manager is available to give advice and support on issues such as:

  • Higher Education student finance
  • Personal issues
  • Childcare issues
  • Other sources of funding
  • Benefits
  • Debt advice

Accommodation

Whilst the BSO does not have its own student accommodation, the Student Support team makes every effort to help students find suitable private accommodation.

Finding private accommodation

  • In August an "accommodation morning" is held for September starters where the students can meet up prior to the course and search for accommodation together.
  • Students who attend this event find it extremely helpful in finding accommodation in time for the start of term.
  • You will be able to meet potential housemates and approved landlords
  • Our Student Support & Equality Manager  will be available to discuss opportunities and provide advice on issues such as tenancy agreements

For further information please contact: Sarah Matthews, on 0207 089 5335 or click here to email Sarah.

  • Technical needs assessments
  • Provision of support workers

If you have a disability or health condition we would strongly encourage you to let the Admissions team know from the outset. This way, appropriate provisions can be made to support you throughout your application to the BSO, and ensure everything can be in place for the start of your studies. If you would like to discuss your personal needs, or any reasonable adjustments which may be required for you to access the course, then please contact Sarah Matthews, on 0207 089 5335 or click to email Sarah.
