Our teaching and learning methodology is student-centred and active. You will receive practical training with practising osteopaths. The high quality of our teaching has been acknowledged by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

Osteopaths work in a variety of styles. Our objective is to provide you with the tools to practise in your own way, while fulfilling the criteria for professional status.

In order to practice you will need to meet the Standard of Proficiency laid down by the General Osteopathic Council:

  • The essential knowledge base.
  • The practical, interpersonal, cognitive and key transferable skills.
  • The attitude of enquiry, professionalism, ethical caring and respect that characterise a competent and effective osteopath.

The M.Ost is designed to deliver these attributes.

From your first week you will be involved with patients in the clinic, sitting in on consultations and before long you will be taking responsibility for diagnosis and treatment, supervised by experienced osteopathic clinic tutors.

Our approach to teaching is personal and detailed. For example the tutor/student ratio in technique classes is around 1:8, with 1:1 tutoring in the clinic. We continuously assess all aspects of the teaching and learning experience and exploit the best of modern teaching methodologies.
