<description><![CDATA[Getting up in the morning is risky, driving to work is risky, indeed life is risky; so what is special about clinical practice in terms of risk?  A risk represents a hazard or danger and clearly we wish to avoid dangerous situations.  But we also know that human development is marked by people who took risks.  From explorers to business entrepreneurs, from philosophers (it’s surprising how many were killed for their ideas) to researchers (Marie Curie died from radiation poisoning and Edward Jenner vaccinated his own children with cowpox to demonstrate his faith in his inoculation), a common feature is that they took risks and faced hazards in order to gain benefit and reward.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Nearly ninety graduands gathered at Queen Elizabeth Hall in the London South Bank Centre on 3 November 2011 to receive their degrees.

This is only the second year to have graduated with our unique Master of Osteopathy (M.Ost) degree and our students continue to excel, with 12 students achieving a distinction this year. The Faculty also awarded 10 prizes for outstanding students, with Hollie Barter winning the Principal’s Prize for Clinical Excellence and Lisa Dennison winning the Silver Medal for best overall performance in the final two years of the course.]]></description>
